Thank god it’s Friday, amirite?
The week’s almost over, and the best part’s arrived. Let’s celebrate! I have some things I’ve really liked this week – I lay them out for you below.
These aren’t sponsored, just things I’m feeling. Disclosure though – some of the links are pay-per-click or pay-per-sale, so viperheart may get a portion of the proceeds if you click and/or buy. So y’all better not be going off and buying somewhere else, ya hear? But enough with the FTC mumbo jumbo, it’s such a buzzkill. You know where to find my whole spiel on ads.
So here’s what I’m all about on this fine Friday:
1) Dopest of Dope-casts
So Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams are a comedy duo called “2 Dope Queens.” They host live shows in Brooklyn, and podcast them for the pleasure of all. And oh my god – they are funny as hell! I feel like my 9-5 sucks the soul out of me lately, so it really reinvigorates me to listen to these hilarious girls on my commute. I just hopped on to the 2DQ train this week (shout-out to Dawn for the reco), so I am catching up on the AmAzInG guests they’ve had on the show, from Tegan and Sara Quin to Carrie Brownstein to Tig Nataro to Ilana Glazer to Abbi Jacobson. And also, a show hosted by two women of color?! I am SO there for that. Plus, they use abrevs. If you were friends with me in college, you KNOW how much I totes loves abrevs. Phoebs and Jess are audio comedy goddesses and having them coming through my speakers gives me such life this week. Ladies – can we be bests?? HMU.
2) I Fly High, I’m Blazin’
As a J.Crew Stylist, I have been staring at our sweater-blazers for MONTHS. They’re structured like a blazer, comfy like a sweater, and somehow super flattering for being a loose drape of wool on your torso. They’re also like $140, which even with our associate discount would still be like $100. And remember those insane sales they were having around the holidays for 40% and 50% off regular price items? Yeah, sweater-blazers were always excluded from that. Those sneaky sneaks know how badly everyone wants these swazers, and that they’ll eventually cave into paying full price for it. But then, something miraculous happened earlier this week. A woman returned, no exaggeration, $5,000 worth of merchandise to our store. That merch included an entire size run of our burgundy sweater-blazers, which were conveniently on clearance with an additional 50% to any lucky bitch who could get their hands on one. And this week, you guys, I was that lucky bitch. I am the proud owner of our merino wool sweater-blazer in vintage cabernet. I then became the proud owner of J.Crew Factory‘s bleaters in tan and black and navy. Because I have a shopping problem. And also because when I find something I like wearing/is acceptable to wear to work, I buy three in every color.
3) The Rosé of Beer
After somehow surviving college, I don’t have the widest palette for alchohol (read: I threw up a lot in college. Okay?). I can do some beer, I can maybe do rum, but other than that, it’s pretty much wine and cider. Sparklers like prosecco and rosé are my jam, and ciders go with everything. So when I found Cidergeist’s Bubbles that’s a rosé AND a cider, my mind was blown. Listen – I know a brew with the name “Bubbles” isn’t going to grow hair on my chest or anything, but I’m a girl – I can get away with these things. The Yard Gastropubs of Pittsburgh have been carrying it, and since Mr. Big and I are frequenters of the Market Square and Mount Lebanon spots, I’ve totally gotten hooked on this peach-cranberry effervescence. They’re sold at six-pack shops throughout the city, and Rhinegeist is actually a Cincinnati-based brewery, so they distribute pretty widely throughout the Northeast and Midwest.
